While most of the conversation after Game 1 between the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames was in relation to all the goals scored, things got quite chippy at points as well.

Prior to Game 1, Lucic was asked about playing against his former team and his friend in Connor McDavid, to which he replied laughing "Who? Not my friend."

He backed those words up on Wednesday, as he laid a massive hit on the Oilers captain which resulted in a scrum along the boards.

Immediately after the hit, Oilers forward Evander Kane tried to go after Lucic, but they were quickly separated from one another. The two continued to go at it all night, however, and that may not stop in Game 2, Kane threw a shot at the hulking forward during his media availability Friday afternoon.

"I don't see it as a battle," Kane said when asked about the battle between Lucic and himself. "We welcome it when he is on the ice."

Kane is clearly taking a shot at Lucic's playing ability, as he is no longer the dominating power forward he once was with the Boston Bruins. With that said, he has adapted his game into becoming a physical force on the fourth line that makes life difficult on opposing teams. The fact that he is being discussed as much as he has been early into this series means that he has done his job so far. It will be interesting to see if anything transpires between him and Kane given the comments made today.
