Dallas Stars defenceman John Klingberg has made a pretty big impact physically so far in their series against the Dallas Stars, although he's spent an NHL-leading 26 minutes in the penalty box.

The 29-year-old is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 13th, but Stars general manager Jim Nill told reporters that he would like to keep Klingberg.

"Oh, I'd love to keep him," Nill said. "But he's got to look out for himself, too, so I fully understand that. So we'll see if we can figure something out."

He added, "Once we're all done, then we'll sit down. We have to figure out next year and we'll go from there."

Klingberg, a native of Gothenburg (Sweden), has been a pillar on the blue line for the Stars since he made his NHL debut during the 2014-15 season. His name circulated in trade rumours throughout the season, but the Stars decided to hold on to him amid their push for a wild card spot.

In 74 games during the regular season, Klingberg tallied 47 points (six goals, 41 assists), 34 penalty minutes and was a minus-28.
