Boston Bruins' top defenseman Charlie McAvoy is ruled out for today's game 4 matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes. McAvoy was placed in the NHL's COVID-19 protocol and is unavailable as the Bruins' attempt to tie the series at home.

This is a shattering blow to the Bruins' defense core, especially after losing Hampus Lindholm in Game 2 due to a massive hit by Andrei Svechnikov. It appears that the B's will rely heavily on Brandon Carlo and Matt Grzelyck. To this point in the series, McAvoy is the only Bruin to notch any points in the series.

On the other side, Carolina will welcome back Game 1 starter Antti Raanta in net. He was injured in Game 2 after a run in with Bruin's forward David Pastranak. It appeared that Pastranak caught Raanta up high. The goaltender left the game and was apparently bleeding from the encounter. Carolina's young rookie Pyotr Kochetkov finished Game 2 in Carolina and was in net for the team's first loss of the postseason in Game 3. It is still uncertain when the Canes number 1 goalie, Fredrik Andersen, might make an appearance in this series.

Tune in today at 12:30pm EST for Game 4.
