Young hockey player killed following altercation outside of a bar

Family and friends are mourning the death of a 26-year-old hockey player who was shot and killed during an altercation outside of a bar in the early morning hours of Monday, May 2nd. Nikolai Sharov played for the local hockey club "Kolos" in the Chelyabinsk region of Russia.

According to a news release from local authorities, two men got into an argument at a bar. One of them went home to get a gun. He returned and shot the victim twice, once in the head and once in the stomach. The suspect then fled the scene. An arrest has been made and an unregistered gun and ammunition seized. According to police, the victim and suspect knew each other.

This is the second time in just over a week that a young hockey player has been killed following an altercation in Russia. 23-year-old Roman Didur was stabbed to death following an argument outside a café in Moscow on Aril 24th. Our sincere condolences to family and friends of both players.
