This series was always going to be interesting. Two of the NHL's most electric scoring centers versus two of its biggest defensive stalwarts at the position. And in order for LA to win, they would need to stifle McDavid & Draisaitl as much as possible. Meanwhile, they would need to be opportunistic against Edmonton's squeaky goaltending. And that is exactly what happened:

Phillip Danault was incredible tonight, and there was always a question whether or not he would be able to contain Connor McDavid. And no one can contain Connor McDavid, obviously:

However, aside from that one goal that McDavid was always going to score, Danault was highly effective in his 8:46 against the Oilers twin-headed dragon:

The irony in all this is that Mike Smith was always knows as a goalie with exceptional puck-handling skills, but he's certainly on the back nine if you will. And GM Ken Holland has had several opportunities to insulate at the position and hasn't. So if the Oilers fail to defeat Los Angeles here, is it fair to say Ken Holland's seat warms up at least a little? I'll let you decide...
