After the Vancouver Canucks hired Bruce Boudreau as their interim head coach back in December, the team went on to play extremely well and had a record of 32-15-10.

The 67-year-old told reporters during his exit interview that he wants to be back with the Vancouver Canucks next season.

"I told Patrik and Jim that I wanted to coach here next year," Boudreau said. "We're just talking right now. I think they want me back and I know I want to be back, so I think it should work out."

Seeing how the Canucks did under Boudreau from December until the end of the season, it would be ideal for them to retain him. The Canucks could become a playoff team next season, depending on what they decide to do in the off-season as well as the health of the players throughout the year.

Boudreau has had a successful tenure as a head coach in the National Hockey League amassing 599 wins in parts of fourteen seasons with Washington, Anaheim, Minnesota and now Vancouver. He reached Game seven of the Western Conference Final with Anaheim in 2015, but will now look to take the Canucks to the next level and a place they haven't gone since 2011, the Stanley Cup Final.
