Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins are headed to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the sixteenth consecutive season.

The Cole Harbour native understands that this may be Pittsburgh's last shot at a Stanley Cup with the current core they have. Defenceman Kris Letang and forward Evgeni Malkin, who have played key roles on Pittsburgh's three Stanley Cup Championships, are set to become unrestricted free agents this summer.

"As much as you don't want to think about it, it's something that you understand could be a possibility," Crosby said. "I think you just try to enjoy it as much as you can, and try to take it all in because you know it's something that's not going to last forever, whether it's this year or down the road a little bit more.

He added, "You only get to play for so long, so I think just trying to enjoy it and be grateful for the opportunity that we have to do it again."

The Penguins currently sit third in the Metropolitan Division but could be passed by the Washington Capitals, who are fourth place, if Pittsburgh loses tomorrow and Washington wins one of their final two games.

If Pittsburgh stays in the third position, they will face the New York Rangers in the first round, but if they drop to the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference, then they will battle the Florida Panthers.

Regardless of what happens in the playoffs, it will be interesting to see what the Penguins front office does this off-season. Will Malkin and Letang leave? Maybe one stays, and one goes? The Penguins will be a team to watch this summer.
