Despite the fact that he hasn't played at all this season, and possibly never will again, Shea Weber is once again the focus of discussion for Montreal media. Weber is technically still the captain of the Montreal Canadiens and has never officially announced his retirement. Some feel he should have been in attendance for the team's tribute to Guy Lafleur on Saturday night, but Weber was nowhere to be found.

"You must be there, a former captain, and he is not yet officially retired and is paid by the CH, it is a big lack of respect," said Mathias Brunet of 91.9 Sports in Montreal.

"The time we take to talk about him is more time than he has given to the team this year, all he does is collect his cheque," said co-host Martin Lemay.

This isn't the first time Weber has been criticized by Montreal media for being absent this season. In a recent opinion column, Rejean Tremblay ripped Weber for being absent during the Habs struggles this year and for refusing to even speak with reporters the one time he visited with the team while they were in Vancouver.

"We forget that the captain is in Vancouver, that he hasn't come to meet his teammates in Montreal except once in November, that he saw Marc Bergevin and Dominique Ducharme get fired and replaced by [Kent] Hughes and [Martin] St-Louis and that His Lordship is still too haughty to address the populace."
