After almost a week of silence, Tim Stutzle of the Ottawa Senators is reacting to getting called out for diving by Brendan Gallagher of the Montreal Canadiens. During a game last Tuesday, Stutzle took what appeared to be a knee-on-knee hit from the Habs' Nick Suzuki, and laid on the ice for quite a while before getting up. However, he was back on the ice for the ensuing powerplay, something that seemed to frustrate Gallagher.

"He's a great player, played against him for two or three years now," Gallagher said. "But more than half the games we played against him, he lays on the ice and then he's right back out there next shift. He lays on the ice, he acts like he's hurt, he sells the call. He's on the ice that same power play. You know, there's kids watching, we're role models. If I was a teammate of his I'd tell him to smarten up. It's just not a good look. Very talented player, very good player. He needs to stop laying on the ice, it's embarrassing."

Stutzle did not play in Ottawa's next two games, but did suit up Sunday night against the Winnipeg Jets. Following that game, he was asked about Gallagher's comments.

"Everyone has their own opinion. They can say what they want. I have my own opinion too. But in the end, I respect him as a player - he's a veteran. That's all I'm gonna say about it," said Stutzle.

Stutzle also told reporters that Suzuki apologized to him for the hit.

"I don't think it was intentional. Suzuki talked to me on the draw - He said I'm sorry," said Stutzle.
