Tuesday night was a frustrating night for Brendan Gallagher and the Montreal Canadiens, as they fell 3-2 to the Ottawa Senators.

Shortly after the game was over, Gallagher was asked on his thoughts about Senators forward Tim Stutzle, who appeared to take a dive earlier in the game. The Habs veteran wasn't shy to say exactly how he felt.

«He's a great player, played against him for two or three years now,» Gallagher started. «But more than half the games we played against him, he lays on the ice and then he's right back out there next shift. He lays on the ice, he acts like he's hurt, he sells the call. He's on the ice that same power play. You know, there's kids watching, we're role models. If I was a teammate of his I'd tell him to smarten up. It's just not a good look. Very talented player, very good player. He needs to stop laying on the ice, it's embarrassing.»

It is rare for an NHL player to call out another this directly, but it is clear that Gallagher is not a fan of some of Stutzle's antics. In his defence, several fans on social media have also taken issue with the amount of diving the 20-year-old German winger has done through his first two seasons in the NHL. Perhaps he will take Gallagher's comments seriously and look to avoid going down so easily in the future.
