Ducks' Captain Ryan Getzlaf Set to Retire
The Anaheim Ducks & Captain Ryan Getzlaf today announced his plans to retire at the conclusion of the 2021-22 NHL season.
Getzlaf possesses a stellar hockey record. U18 Gold, WJC Gold, WC Gold, 2x Olympic Gold, Stanley Cup Champion plus more. That is not too shabby, I dare say. Additionally, he was a consummate leader & mentor to so many young players.
One has to wonder if Anaheim's #15 will be raised to the rafters...
Anyway, the next era is officially underway in Anaheim. It is unclear if Getzlaf is to retain a role within the organization post-retirement.
Congratulations on a storied career to Ryan Getzlaf & thank you for being a display of professionalism, sportsmanship, and class all these years.
