The Colorado Avalanche announced on Tuesday that they agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with defenceman Kurtis MacDermid. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman says that MacDermid will earn $975,000 in year one, and $1 million in year two.

MacDermid, 28, is in his first year with the Colorado Avalanche after they acquired him from Seattle last summer, one week after the Kraken took him from Los Angeles in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft.

In 53 games so far this season, the Sauble Beach (Ontario) native has five points (two goals, three assists), 72 penalty minutes, and is a plus-three.

MacDermid is a depth defenceman, known for his physicality, but is quite efficient at scoring at 5v5 per 60 minutes, according to the Twitter account, JFresh. Because he doesn't play a lot of minutes, his seven goals in 126 career games has him at a 90% for goals per 60 minutes.
