This morning, two KHL clubs announced their commitment to withdrawing from the upcoming KHL season. Dinamo Riga (Latvia) & Jokerit (Finland) have confirmed the whispers that they would not be participating in the upcoming KHL season.

For now, the decision only applies for the upcoming season, so it remains unclear what the permanent landing spot is for these two clubs. This news comes on the back of the Russian military invasion of Ukraine & various reports of heightened violence throughout the region.

In thread above, TSN's Gord Miller aptly points out that a significant portion of the KHL's talent comes from foreign countries. Talent that appears unlikely to return to the KHL because of the Ukraine conflict.

As of now, only two clubs have rescinded their KHL membership, but stay tuned for others to follow suit.
