During the '32 Thoughts' segment on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman gave an update on Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Rodion Amirov, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour back in late February.

"We wanted to give you an update on Rodion Amirov. Everyone in the hockey world is rooting for him after his diagnosis last month. This is him this week. He finished his six weeks of chemotherapy, he's got four weeks until his next round. He's on the ice three times a week, the Maple Leafs rent him ice out in Dusseldorf (Germany), and he's in the gym five times a week. I hope he knows that we're all rooting for him." Friedman said.

The 20-year-old was selected by the Maple Leafs in the first round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to his diagnosis, Amirov was playing in the KHL for Salavat Yulayev Ufa, where in ten games he recorded three points (one goal, two assists), and was a plus-two.

Everyone in the hockey world is rooting for Amirov, and we can't wait to see him back in game action as soon as it's safe to do so.
