The NHL General Manager's meetings entered their second day on Tuesday and some news has come out regarding the salary cap for the 2022-23 season.

After three straight seasons of the salary cap ceiling being at $81.5 million, TSN's Pierre LeBrun is reporting that it will go up by $1 million to $82.5 million starting next season.

"NHL GMs have officially been told by the league the salary cap is going up $1 million to $82.5 million for next season," LeBrun said in a tweet on Tuesday.

This is welcome news for every team across the National Hockey League, especially those who are close to the salary cap ceiling. While a $1 million increase may not seem like a lot, this will help teams with contract negotiations with free agents or in extension talks, allowing them a little more wiggle room to get someone signed.
