The Vegas Golden Knights have been struck with the injury bug for most of the 2021-2022 season, and now things are getting even worse.

William Carrier was injured during Saturday's tilt with the Chicago Blackhawks, and their forward core is already depleted especially with the injuries to Mark Stone and Max Pacioretty. Head coach Pete DeBoer does not seem too optimistic about Carrier coming back anytime soon either. DeBoer doesn't think this will be a short-term injury, and stated that it «doesn't look good.»

The 27-year-old winger is an important depth piece on the Knights, and they could use just about anyone to be healthy right now. Carrier was forced onto the third line due to injuries. He has typically seen most of his ice-time on the fourth line during the entirety of his NHL career, and Vegas will have to look for another replacement for the bottom-six winger.

Vegas is barely holding onto the second wild card spot in the Western Conference with Dallas just 1 point back with four games in hand. If Vegas wants to make the playoffs, they will likely need contributions from unlikely sources in order to win games down the stretch.
