For weeks prior to the NHL's trade deadline, Marc-Andre Fleury was linked to the Washington Capitals, who needed help in the goaltending department.

But with Washington being a massive rival of the Pittsburgh Penguins, where Fleury spent the first thirteen seasons of his career, it was rumoured that he had no interest in joining the Capitals.

Fleury was ultimately dealt to Minnesota from Chicago, last Monday, in exchange for a conditional second round pick, that could become a first round pick if the Wild make it to the Western Conference Final and Fleury wins four games in the first two rounds.

During the intermission of Sunday afternoon's game between the Islanders and Lightning, Fleury confirmed the news that Washington had interest in him, but because of the rivalry with Pittsburgh and intense playoff battles, he didn't want to play for the Capitals.

"It just didn't seem right," Fleury said according to Tarek El-Bashir.

Fleury has played one game with the Wild since the trade, earning the win on Saturday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
