The New York Islanders issued a pair of injury updates on Thursday morning, for forward Cal Clutterbuck and defenceman Scott Mayfield.

Clutterbuck will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign after sustaining a shoulder injury that will require surgery at some point. The Welland (Ontario) native appeared in 59 games this season, recording fifteen points (six goals, nine assists), ten penalty minutes, and was a minus-six.

On Monday, the 34-year-old agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension worth $3.5 million ($1.75 million AAV).

As for defenceman Scott Mayfield, the Islanders say he'll miss the next four-to-six weeks with a lower-body injury. While they didn't outright say he'll miss the rest of the season, like they did with Clutterbuck, there's a slight chance that he won't play again this year as the Islanders' final game is five weeks away.

In 61 games this season, the 29-year-old has eighteen points (three goals, fifteen assists), 55 penalty minutes, and is a minus-five.
