Jeff Petry's desire to get out of Montreal earlier this season was no secret, and it showed in his play. After four straight season of 40+ points, the 34-year-old defenceman was struggling mightily, and really didn't appear to care much. However, since Dominique Ducharme was let go as head coach of the Montreal Canadiens and replaced with Martin St. Louis, Petry has looked much better, and he credits St. Louis for that change.

"With him, you're looking forward to coming to the rink day in and day out so it's been a refresh and a good change too for myself and the team so far."

Petry added St. Louis is a coach is a coach he'd like to play for for a long time.

"He brought the joy back to coming to the rink."

So does this mean Petry wants to remain in Montreal now? He didn't exactly address that, and it may not be in the Canadiens' best interests to keep him. With his revival, Petry can likely fetch a hefty price on the trade market, which is invaluable to a team looking to add prospects and draft picks like Montreal. But, Petry's words are certainly telling about the situation Montreal was in. There were many low points this season, and Petry himself contributed to them with his play. Montreal has now won its last five games with St. Louis behind the bench, and it's a safe bet that his contract that runs out at the end of this season will be extended.
