The Dallas Stars are in an interesting position with less than four weeks to go until the NHL's trade deadline. It's unclear if they will sell off leading up to March 21st or if they'll stand pat. Currently, the Stars sit fifth in the Central Division and are three points back of the Los Angeles Kings for the final wild card spot in the Western Conference.

If the Stars do decide to sell at the deadline, they'll likely listen to offers on their pending unrestricted free agents, except for one, Joe Pavelski, who general manager Jim Nill would like to sign to an extension before March 21st.

"That's what I hope," Nill said. "I want to see where Joe is at. We got to look at our cap situation, too. And I think he'll have some questions he'll want answered. We'll have some questions. But my mindset is that we want to bring him back. He's been a great fit for us. He's a big part of our community and our team. We'll sit down and discuss that."

Pavelski, 37, is having an incredible season with the Stars, leading them in points with 53 (21 G, 32 A) in 49 games. His 53 points this season are the most that he's put up with the Stars since signing a contract with them on July 1st 2019.

Dallas' other pending UFA's that could be on the move include Braden Holtby, John Klingberg and possibly Alexander Radulov.
