During an appearance on The Jeff Marek Show, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman mentioned that one of the more interesting names to keep an eye on when it comes to the Montreal Canadiens is Josh Anderson and that teams are interested in him.

"I think Montreal is going to have a lot of people out there, and everybody knows that Montreal has a lot of people out there. The interesting one is going to be one of our Hometown Hockey feature guys from tonight. There's a Josh Anderson piece airing, I believe, and I think he's going to be an interesting one. I'm very curious to see how the Canadiens feel about him and what his role is in their future," Friedman said.

Jeff Marek then asked if he's curious about the upcoming trade deadline, which is exactly one month away, or off-season curious.

"Both. Both. I think there's interest in him. I get kind of mixed reactions on what Montreal is thinking there. Does he stay or no? Friedman added.

Anderson, 27, was traded to the Canadiens in October of 2020 in exchange for Max Domi and a draft pick. Shortly after his trade, Anderson penned a seven-year contract with the Canadiens that comes with a $5.5 million cap hit.

In 39 games this season, the Burlington (Ontario) native has eighteen points (ten goals, eight assists), 41 penalty minutes and is a minus-21.

The Canadiens will be busy over the next four weeks, with names like Ben Chiarot, Artturi Lehkonen, Brett Kulak, Chris Wideman and Jeff Petry among others all garnering interest from teams around the NHL.
