The Vancouver Canucks officially announced on Sunday what fans have been waiting to hear, the return of the 'Black Skate' uniforms.

In a video posted on their Twitter account, with the caption "02.24.2022 🔴🟡⚫️" the Canucks announced that they will be wearing their famous jerseys on Thursday when they host the Calgary Flames.

The 'Black Skate' uniforms were introduced in 1989 and worn until 1997 when the Canucks rebranded and started to wear the Orca jerseys. In 2016, the Canucks brought the jerseys back for one game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

For the franchise's 50th anniversary in the 2019-20 season, the fans were given four options to vote on for a throwback uniform and the 'Black Skate' jerseys won by a landslide.

The NHL allows teams to wear a throwback uniform, if they choose, up to three times each season. In recent years, St. Louis, Los Angeles and New Jersey have wore Adidas versions of their 90's uniforms.
