The Abbotsford Canucks, Vancouver's American Hockey League affiliate, issued a statement via their Twitter account on Thursday giving an update on defenceman Jack Rathbone who was injured on Wednesday night.

Rathbone was hit into the boards in his own zone by Bakersfield Condors forward Colton Sceviour. The Canucks prospect laid motionless on the ice for nearly thirteen minutes following the hit. Eventually, Rathbone was put on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital in Bakersfield (California).

"Jack was alert and responsive before being taken to a local hospital following a hit that occurred during last night's game at Bakersfield. Jack was discharged from hospital last night, and after being thoroughly assessed by physicians, he is expected to travel with the team today to Colorado," The Abbotsford Canucks said.

Condors forward Colton Sceviour was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for boarding and it's likely that the American Hockey League will look at giving him supplemental discipline.

Rathbone, 22, has twenty-one points (five goals, sixteen assists) in nineteen games for Abbotsford this season.
