With no end in sight to the contract stalemate between Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins, the team looked a different way and signed Kasimir Kaskisuo.

The Boston Bruins added a goaltender to their roster, but perhaps not the one that most had been expecting.
On Thursday, as the Bruins commenced the on-ice portion of their training camp at Warrior Ice Arena, the team announced it was signing Finnish goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo to a professional tryout contract.
Kaskisuo, 30, has played in only two NHL games over his nine-year pro career with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Nashville Predators. Last season he suited up with the Laval Rocket of the AHL, posting a .909 save percentage and 2.90 goals-against average in 20 games.
That professional tryout doesn't guarantee Kaskisuo a spot on the Bruins roster, as he'll have to earn it during camp. His arrival, however, does come at a time when Boston's goaltending situation is somewhat in flux.
As camp got underway, general manager Don Sweeney confirmed that restricted free agent goalie Jeremy Swayman would miss the start of camp while contract talks continue. For the time being, Joonas Korpisalo will slide in as the Bruins' No. 1 goaltender.
With Kaskisuo in the fold, the Bruins now have six goalies in camp, also including Ryan Bischel, Brandon Bussi, Michael DiPietro, and Nolan Maier.
Kaskisuo is the second player the Bruins have brought in on a professional tryout this year, joining veteran forward Tyler Johnson.
The Bruins will continue camp with practices on Thursday and Friday before their Black & Gold scrimmage on Saturday in Providence. They'll also face the New York Rangers in their first preseason game at TD Garden on Sunday.
