Alex Ovechkin sarcastically expressed approval of the Washington Capitals' offseason moves by sending an emoji of a thumbs up.
While many would assume at first glance that Ovi was happy with his team's offseason moves, it is actually quite the contrary. Capitals GM Brian MacLellan added 7 players in what was regarded as a retooling, in order to complement Ovechkin, and Ovi responded with a simple thumbs up emoji.
MacLellan said Ovechkin texted him a 👍 after the Dubois trade 😂
The Capitals were swept in the first round of the playoffs by the New York Rangers. GM MacLellan has been hard at work trying to shake up the roster this offseason, which has now turned into a big joke with Ovi's response. A first round sweep is no laughing matter.
When asked by @Tarik_ElBashir what input Alex Ovechkin has had on the
@Capitals offseason moves, general manager Brian MacLellan said Ovi sent over a thumbs up emoji.
All jokes aside, Ovechkin and the Capitals better get serious if they want to avoid another sweep next season. If the Capitals don't win games, MacLellan may not find Ovi's text all that funny anymore.
