During the Leafs-Bruins game the other night, the cameras caught Brad Marchand pulling one of his classic moves, stirring up trouble with the Leafs bench as the clock ticked down to a Bruins victory.
That rivalry between the Bruins and Leafs is hotter than ever, especially in this first-round series. The Bruins snagged the 4-2 win in game 3, putting them ahead in the series 2-1. And of course, Marchand was right in the middle of the action, doing what he does best: getting under the Leafs' skin.
As if to rub salt in the wound, Marchand couldn't resist tossing out a little taunt as he skated past the Leafs bench after the Bruins scored an empty-netter. He was caught on camera saying, 'It's over in 5.' Now to be honest, I heard «Still 35» as in how much time left but everyone has their own opinion.
Even after the game, the Leafs players were talking about Marchand's antics. Rookie Matthew Knies summed it up pretty well, saying,
He wants to get under our skin and influence the refs, so I think we've just got to be composed and not kind of get into that BS. Just play hard and make him (less) effective
Despite Marchand's best efforts, the Leafs need to tighten up, especially on their powerplays. If they can do that, all this Marchand drama won't matter as much, and they'll have a better shot at coming out on top.
